At times, I cannot fathom why you make me feel the way I do. There are days where you make me feel so high, as if I am floating on a cloud. Then, there are those days where I feel as though I am sinking to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, with an anchor attached to my feet. Who are you? You are my self-esteem. Individuals have been in battle with their self-esteem since the beginning of human existence. Self-esteem plays a crucial role in how we perceive ourselves. Let’s be honest, we tend to believe that how we perceive ourselves, is the same way others perceive us. We think everyone can see our problems. Constantly thinking about what others may perceive you to be may cause your self-esteem to sink further. It may sound a bit cliché, but we have to stop worrying about what others think of us. I know this can present some type of confrontation. For example, some people are constantly evaluated on their job. The manager or supervisor that conducts the evaluation may exhibit some sort of bias towards you and could cause your evaluation to be unsatisfactory. ( this happened to me a couple years ago) Do understand that you will have bad days and you will have that person that will put forth the effort to make you feel worthless as a human being. Despite the past, current, and future attacks on your self-esteem, you should always find a quality within yourself that you can be proud of.
