I have a little over a month before my 30th birthday. Upon my 29th birthday, I feared turning thirty. I thought it was the end of my youth. I had a conversation with dad, and he told me to really reflect on everything that I have accomplished throughout my twenties. Here is my list:

Marriage: I married the love of my life in 2009. In the beginning, it was hard because we were so young. However, we taught each other how to be patient, listen, and communicate. My husband has played a significant role in my success. He challenges me every day to be the best woman/wife I can be. I love you very much.

Degrees: I still don’t know why I went to college and racked up all this debt ( lol). In addition to the debt I have accumulated, I have earned three degrees: Bachelors, Masters, and Ed.S( Educational Specialist: will be granted August 3, 2018). I can say that I have utilized at least two of these degrees; therefore, it is safe to say that they aren’t entirely useless.

Friendship: I have gained some new friends within my journey: Bernice, Shakera, Sabine, and Bridgette. You ladies have truly been there for me, and I cannot thank you enough. We have had nothing but great times. There is also one young lady that has always had a special place in my heart. Even though I left, we kept in touch whether through Facebook or telephone: Porsha. We have been friends for almost 20 years, and I am looking forward to another 20 more.

Business: I found one of my gifts a year ago. Writing has allowed me to express my thoughts and create a service that can help everyone. I never thought I could open a business, but with the support of family and friends, I know it will blossom into something beneficial for everyone to experience.

Family: I have thing 1 and thing 2 for brothers. Besides that, they are turning out to be great young men (thanks to my parents) There was a time where both of my brothers were knee high and they would follow me everywhere I went. Now, these jokers are taller than me, and they are both in High School! They are both great intelligent athletes, and I enjoy watching them rise to the top.

Not all has been good though. I lost two of the best women who played a significant role in my upbringing. Both of my grandmothers (Sallie and Dorothy) motivated me to work hard. They always told me that I would be someone successful. They were right. I can no longer see them anymore. I am now left with the memories and lessons of life. I will continue to carry these memories and lessons until my last breath.
So, twenties, it has been a great ride, but I must leave you and move on into my thirties. I am looking forward to what my thirties may bring me: travelling to different countries, owning a home, a booming business, and possibly motherhood.
